Alani Vargas is a queer, Latina journalist

Alani is a native Chicagoan who lives and breathes pop culture. TV is her specialty, but she also speaks fluent nerd (ask her about Ahsoka Tano or Buffy if you want to test it out).

She went to Northwestern University’s Medill School of Journalism and has been an entertainment journalist ever since graduation. She’s been writing professionally since junior year, studied abroad in Florence, and interned in New York City. Alani currently lives in Chicago, her hometown. In addition to pop culture writing, she’s reviewed TV shows like ‘Batwoman’ for The A.V. Club, and ‘Star Wars: The Clone Wars’ and ‘You.’ Her op-eds have appeared on Vogue.com, POPSUGAR Bitch Media. Alani's interests span over many pop cultural pillars, specifically ones that reflect her identity as a Lesbian Latina. She loves a good rom-com just as much as she adores 'Star Wars' and queer cartoons (lookin' at you 'Harley Quinn' and 'She-Ra and the Princesses of Power'). She shares all her current obsessions on her Twitter and will die on the hill that ‘Revenge of the Sith’ is the best ‘Star Wars’ movie.
